It can be challenging at Williamstown Theatre whenever there is a loan equipment booked for a case.
First challenge is the loan agreement form. Biomed requires a valid loan agreement form before they tag and test a loan equipment.
For everyone’s reference, we keep a copy in the fishbowl a list of equipment with valid loan agreement forms and is reviewed annually. Here is the list so far:
1. Avanos: Coolief valid until April 2026
2. Medacta: Nextar valid until April 2026
3. Stryker/ Wright: NSK console valid until March 2026
4. Zimmer: Intellijoint Hip System valid until April 2026
5. Zimmer: Orthocast CAS Kit valid until April 2026
6. Pulse Ortho/ Perios: NSK console valid until April 2026
8. Arthrex: Horizon 24 Flex-AH Centrifuge valid until April 2026
9. Arthrex Angel System valid until Oct 2025
10. Arthrex Srill Saw High Speed System MIS valid until April 2026
11. Arthrex Nanoscope console valid until Oct 2025
12. Arthrex RF Synergy valid April 2026
(No issue with Stryker Triathlon navigation system as this unit is consigned and lives in the department)
If the unit is not listed above, please notify WTNTheatreLeadership@wh.org.au as soon as possible to get loan agreement form organised.
Second challenge is to get the loan equipment tagged and tested by Biomed. We are required by Biomed to give them 48hrs notice when we log a job. That is why it is imperative for us in the leadership group to be notified at least 48hrs if there will be any loan equipment involved on a case.
We cannot use any loan equipment that does not have a valid loan agreement and not tested by Biomed.
Booking Equipment:
- When booking equipment, please request for Reps to be on site at 0800 or 1300 if the case is 1st on the list to assist the theatre nurses with opening loan trays (to assist with on time start project).
- Communicate equipment booking by updating Sunray
- If the patient is not on sunray, then email the equipment booking to WTNTheatreLeadership@wh.org.au and flag with the surgical liaison nurses to add the patients onto sunray
