Patients will be discharged after x1 DNA (did not attend) or FTA (failure to attend).
Nursing staff will action checking out of these patients at the end of clinic.
Patients will have the opportunity to appeal the decision as we understand life happens and the SMS reminder service is at times unreliable or difficult to access for patients with digital literacy challenges.
Both the patient and their GP will receive a letter/SMS informing them of the discharge and the patient may contact Adult Specialist Clinics and have their appointment reinstated.
Unfortunately, there are insufficient nursing and administrative resources to follow up every DNA.
