Public in Private Initiative

Guidelines

  • No hip patients who are on the RCT (randomised control trial) are to be sent to the private hospitals. Knee’s allowed (ACL’s).
  • Making sure the treating consultant is aware they will be doing a RCT patient in the private (not to jeopardise trial).
  • On iPM If a patient is booked under a specific surgeon (intended surgeon), before moving them over to PiP we need to gain permission off that surgeon to send to a surgeon who is a part of the PiP program.

Plans

  • @Nowak, Jessica to work with PIP SLN’s to look at Orthopaedic, Footscray patients who could possibly be sent to the privates and assist with the long waiters – with respect to the PiP guidelines (BMI, low co-morbidities etc).
  • SuperPAC days for PiP surgeons to get more patients over to the private. (Ann and Julia to assist). Working with Sue Beazley.
