Registrar Feedback Forms

Registrar Feedback Form – Word Doc

Introduction

Becoming an orthopaedic surgeon is not just about being a good technician and operator. A good surgeon is first and foremost a good doctor. The patient’s interests and needs are paramount and being able to decide whether or not to operate is just as important, if not more so, as being able to do the operation itself.

Respect for the patient, your peers and colleagues, allied health and nursing staff are equally, if not more important than being able to impress the consultant surgeons on the unit. Being present in theatre and your interactions with consultant surgeons plays an important, but very small part in your overall assessment. The members of the team who you will work with on a daily basis and their opinions of you will form an important part of your overall assessment in the unit and future career progression.

The AOA clinical competencies (some of which are reflected in the feedback form) are designed to highlight all these qualities which make a good doctor and will help you become a better surgeon and clinician.
