The Orthopaedic Unit at Western Health serves Melbourne’s western suburbs, one of the fastest-growing and most culturally diverse regions in Australia. We are one of the largest and busiest orthopaedic departments in Victoria.

What we do
We provide elective and trauma orthopaedic care for adults and children, including joint replacement, fracture management, arthroscopic surgery, and foot and ankle surgery. The unit runs general orthopaedic and fracture clinics across our campuses.
Training
Western Health is an accredited Australian Orthopaedic Association training site for orthopaedic registrars, and hosts subspecialty fellowships in hip, foot and ankle, sports knee and arthroplasty.
Research
The unit runs an active clinical research programme in partnership with Victoria University and the Australian Institute for Musculoskeletal Science.
