Biography

Mr Lachlan Batty is an orthopaedic surgeon with a focus on knee surgery, sports injuries and joint replacement. He holds public appointments at Western Health and St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne, where he treats patients and trains future surgeons, and supervises the Western Health Sports Knee Fellowship. At Western Health he has also managed the fracture clinic and trauma operating theatre.

He studied at Monash University (MBBS Hons, BMedSc Hons) and holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Surgical Anatomy from the University of Melbourne. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons and the Australian Orthopaedic Association. His fellowship training included 12 months as elective and trauma fellow at Western Health, a knee fellowship with OrthoSport Victoria at Epworth, 12 months at the Fowler Kennedy Sport Medicine Clinic in London, Ontario, and a visiting fellowship at the Roth McFarlane Hand and Upper Limb Centre in Canada. He has also trained in robotic joint replacement.

Mr Batty has published peer-reviewed papers and book chapters and is completing a PhD on improving outcomes after ACL injury. He sits on the Australian Orthopaedic Association Patient Education Committee and the ISAKOS Young Professionals Taskforce.
