Biography
Dr Ben Johnson is a paediatric orthopaedic surgeon based in Melbourne. He holds a consultant appointment at the Joan Kirner Women’s and Children’s Hospital at Sunshine Hospital, part of Western Health, and at Monash Children’s Hospital. At both hospitals he also teaches trainee surgeons and medical students.
Dr Johnson studied neuroscience at the University of London and medicine at St Bartholomew’s and the Royal London School of Medicine. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in orthopaedic surgery in 2014. He then completed a fellowship in paediatric orthopaedics and limb reconstruction at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne, and became a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2019.
He treats foot and ankle, knee and hip problems in children, limb deformity and leg length difference, and orthopaedic problems linked to neuromuscular conditions, as well as fractures and sports injuries. He has published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at national and international meetings.
