Biography

Professor Phong Tran is Head of Orthopaedic Surgery at Western Health, a role he has held since 2010. He is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon with a subspecialty focus on hip, knee and shoulder surgery.

Alongside his clinical work, Professor Tran leads an active research program in joint replacement and enhanced recovery, and has published more than 80 peer-reviewed papers. He holds adjunct professorships at several universities and supervises the department’s fellowship in anterior hip surgery and hip arthroscopy.

He is committed to education for surgeons in training and for patients, and created the orthopaedic teaching site OrthoFracs and the patient information site OrthoAnswer.
