Biography

Mr Chris Harris is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at Western Health, where he treats adult and paediatric patients and serves as Deputy Head of the paediatric orthopaedic service. He is also a consultant orthopaedic surgeon at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne. He has held both appointments since 2007.

Mr Harris completed his medical and orthopaedic training in the United Kingdom, followed by subspecialty fellowships in limb reconstruction, trauma and paediatric orthopaedics. His clinical work focuses on limb reconstruction, including the Ilizarov method, the care of children with skeletal dysplasias and the management of hip dysplasia.

He is the Western Health Principal Investigator for the Victorian Hip Dysplasia Registry (VicHip) and was appointed an examiner for the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2021. He teaches regularly at meetings of the Australian Limb Lengthening and Reconstruction Society and the Australian Paediatric Orthopaedic Society, and has published widely in orthopaedics and trauma.
