Upper Limb

The upper limb team treats injuries and conditions of the shoulder, elbow and wrist, including fractures, arthroscopic surgery and joint replacement. Most hand injuries other than scaphoid fractures are managed by Western Health’s plastic surgery unit.

Our Surgeons

Research

The team has published on scaphoid non-union treated with a scaphoid-specific volar locking plate and bone graft, including a comparison of early and delayed mobilisation. Western Health also took part in CROSSFIRE, the randomised trial comparing surgical plating with closed reduction for distal radius fractures in older people.
